The purpose of this roundtable is to create a space for multidisciplinary dialogue in which key actors, such as health policy experts, scientists, doctors and patient representatives, can analyse and discuss the most effective strategies to ensure the protection of orphan drugs. All this, considering the current regulatory framework and recent or imminent legislative changes.
The event seeks to identify and discuss the best tools and policies to ensure the continuity of research, development and access to orphan drugs, which are essential for the treatment of rare diseases. In addition, one of the main focuses will be to delve into how these legal protections and regulatory measures can be adapted and flexible in the face of constantly evolving laws, without compromising the incentive for innovation or equitable access to treatments in all regions of the country.
At the end of the meeting, it is expected that the participants will have identified specific lines of action, areas of consensus and innovative proposals that will safeguard the protection of orphan drugs in the current and future legislative context, as well as lay the foundations for a more equitable and sustainable future in access to and development of treatments for rare diseases.
