Switzerland is the guest nation of BIOSPAIN 2025. The invitation showcases a healthy and thriving relationship between Switzerland and Spain that has largely originated from spontaneous initiatives, the work of Spanish and Swiss professionals who have developed successful careers in the other country and the identification of complementary competitive advantages (Spain in translational research and clinical trials, and Switzerland in pharmaceutical innovation and venture capital). This forum will identify strategic areas for partnership, including joint R&D initiatives, investment opportunities, and regulatory harmonization and explore how to foster them. We will try to identify gaps in the current relations and ways to bridge them. Specific examples of collaboration leading to successful cross-border ventures will be presented. This year Switzerland’s presidency of Eureka can generate additional incentives for collaboration between our respective ecosystems. Our invitation to Switzerland is an opportunity that cannot be missed and must be secured continuity by establishing mechanisms for the exchange of best practices, building a joint committee between Spanish and Swiss or identifying topics of common interest. Participants will include biotech entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers, and representatives from academic and research institutions. The session aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, highlight successful case studies, and chart actionable pathways to strengthen bilateral ties in the life sciences sector.
