                Mission of the Roundtable
To create a space for reflection and debate on how Europe and Spain can strengthen their technological and pharmaceutical sovereignty, ensuring the protection of health research data, the security of critical infrastructures, access to data, and competitiveness in a complex global environment that demands health resilience.
The roundtable will address:
•	Privacy and GDPR challenges, including the secondary use of patient data and the deployment of the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
•	The importance of cybersecurity in hospitals, laboratories, and clinical trials, as well as protection against espionage and manipulation of scientific data.
•	Research integrity and ethics, focusing on transparency in EU-funded projects and the prevention of conflicts of interest.
•	European strategic autonomy in the pharma and biotech sectors, including the production of essential medicines, development of vaccines, advanced therapies, and biotechnologies within the EU Pharmaceutical Strategy.
•	Governance and public–private collaboration, highlighting the role of universities, hospitals, industry, regulators (AEMPS, EMA, AEPD, ISCIII), and European bodies.
Objectives
1.	Analyse the challenges of research security in health and biotechnology in Spain and the EU.
2.	Debate the balance between open science and the protection of sensitive data, respecting GDPR and the EHDS framework.
3.	Explore how to move forward towards European strategic autonomy in medicines and biotechnology.
4.	Identify the role of cybersecurity and critical infrastructures in the health sector.
5.	Propose models of public–private collaboration to ensure technological sovereignty and competitiveness.
