Details
Marine microbiomes perform essential ecological functions and contain a largely underexplored reservoir of enzymes, bioactive compounds, microorganisms and genes. Their exploitation remains limited by difficult cultivation, complex datasets, slow screening and the resource intensity of conventional biodiscovery. The Horizon Europe projects BlueTools and BlueRemediomics address these barriers through complementary expertise in sampling, cultivation, metagenomics, bioinformatics, high-throughput screening, product discovery, sustainability and responsible access to marine genetic resources.
This event aims to bring together biotechnology companies, researchers, investors and technology-transfer professionals to examine how marine microbiome research can generate sustainable products, processes and ecosystem services. Both projects will present their principal approaches, findings and application opportunities, with emphasis on industrial uptake, joint validation, licensing and research collaboration.
